Over $1 Million Traffic Signal Improvements Contract Awarded to Traffic Tech
12 July 2010
The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) of Qatar has awarded Traffic Tech (Gulf) a contract to supply, install, test, and commission traffic signal equipment throughout Doha, Qatar. The contract has a value of more than 4 million Qatari Riyals and will be executed for a period of two years.
This project is intended to propel Ashghal’s traffic signal system improvement programs including the replacement of old traffic signal equipment, and new installations at roundabouts, T-junctions, and cross junctions. In addition, Ashghal also aims to deploy signal heads with low power consumption and longer lifespan by upgrading old quartz halogen type signal heads to LED type, throughout the contract period.
It is noteworthy to mention that this is the third consecutive Traffic Signal Improvement Contract awarded to Traffic Tech since 2007, and that the company has been a key contributor in the advancement of traffic signal systems in Doha. Among the company’s major accomplishments was the development of a unique phasing and timing system for roundabouts, now deployed at over 20 roundabouts in Doha. Traffic Tech also holds a three year traffic signal maintenance contract in Doha, in effect until 2012.
