Job Description
- Operate the Tunnel Management System.
- Report on any failures to the PWA Engineer.
- Responsible for monitoring all activities inside and outside the tunnel through the Tunnel Management System (TMS) such as:
- Traffic control inside and in the vicinity of the structure.
- Detection of any event likely to endanger the road users’ safety. When detecting such an event and if automatic start is not applicable the personnel has to start the available safety elements and also to inform the competent safety teams according to the severity level of the event.
- Any alarm such as failures to be reported to the PWA Engineer and maintenance staff immediately.
- In case of incidents or accidents where emergency service is needed, call for outside services (Fireman, Police etc.).
- Communicate with the users via TMS (Emergency Call Box, Variable Message Signs, etc.).
- Maintenance data collection in case of breakdown and follow-up of the initiated responses.
- Maintain a daily log of any incidents in the tunnel, approach to the tunnel, exit from the tunnel and all roads in the vicinity of the tunnel.
- Daily operational & maintenance reports of all tunnel activities to the PWA Engineer.
- Undertakes other tasks as assigned by the PWA Engineer from time to time.
